AWARD-WINNING SHOPPING MALL IN ANKARA: PANORA SHOPPING AND LIFE CENTER

Today, as T-COD Architecture, we would like to tell you about Panora Shopping and Living Center, one of the distinguished shopping centers of Ankara. Let's take a look at the architectural structure of Panora Shopping and Living Center, which was designed as a multi-purpose urban space.

Panora Shopping and Living Center, which has the largest glass dome in Turkey, is not only a shopping center structure but also a building that creates an environmental impact. Let's talk about the layout planning and architectural structure of Panora Shopping and Living Center, which brought the Merit Award to Ankara and Turkey among 11 countries and 41 projects in the World's Best Shopping Centers competition.

PANORA WITH ITS LAYOUT PLANNING AND ARCHITECTURAL STRUCTURE

The 3-storey building includes shops, restaurants, cafes, multi-purpose activity areas, culture, entertainment and sports centre. The building has established a visual relationship with the immediate surroundings through interior arrangements that emphasize transparency by taking advantage of the northern light. An attempt was made to create a city boulevard effect with store units and circulation halls designed at two floors height. The ground floor of the building is designed for shops and activity areas, while the second floor is designed for culture, art and entertainment activities. Again, the dining floor of the building offers various space alternatives with different flooring heights and offers an integrated interior-exterior space with its arrangement facing the outside and the view. In addition, a 10,000 square meter hypermarket floor that will actively serve the surrounding residences is located on the lower ground floor. The Piri Reis map pattern was produced using 320,000 mosaic stones in 49 different colors on the square floor covering of the building. A steel system that lets daylight into the interior spaces was used on the upper cover of the 38-meter diameter dome. Designed as a multi-purpose urban space in Panora Shopping and Life Center, the under dome is designed to be large enough to offer different activities such as shows and concerts to its users. On the right and left of the main entrance of the building, restaurants and cafes that are separate from the shopping center, serve for longer periods of time and establish continuity with the outdoor area are designed.
