NEW ICON OF THE CITY: CSO ADA ANKARA
Today, as T-COD Architecture, we would like to tell you about CSO ADA ANKARA, which is the first building in Turkey designed solely to be a symphonic concert hall. Let's take a look at the architectural features of CSO ADA ANKARA, which was positioned in the heart of Ankara by its architects Semra Uygur and Özcan Uygur, in the middle of the axis connecting Ankara Castle and Anıtkabir.
AN INTERDISCIPLINARY HARMONY: CSO ADA ANKARA
CSO ADA ANKARA, a monumental structure consisting of 5 blocks, built on a land of 159 thousand square meters, has a construction area of 62,500 square meters. It includes a large hall with a capacity of 2500 people, a small hall with a capacity of 1000 people, a foyer with a capacity of 1500 people, an artist study building, a choir practice building, an administration building and a closed garage structure. Consisting of transformable materials such as bare concrete, glass, natural stone and wood, CSO ADA ANKARA welcomes us with its spherical-shaped halls, a method we have not encountered before, both in the design and application phases. CSO ADA ANKARA, which is shaped like a sphere by the inflatable mold method applied for the first time in Turkey, appears with an interdisciplinary harmony with architecture at its center, standing at the intersection of architecture, engineering and construction technology. Let's talk about the design language of CSO ADA ANKARA, which consists of a group of structures with basic geometric shapes such as triangular prism, sphere and oval prism.
CSO ADA ANKARA AT NATIONAL ARCHITECTURE AWARDS
The architects of the building did not set a time limit for the building and aimed for it to be timeless and a symbol of the city. It won the Building Branch Award at the 2022 National Architecture Awards due to its spatial richness, pioneering technology and high-level technical competence used in its construction, material selection and care in workmanship. CSO ADA ANKARA, which we mentioned as an interdisciplinary harmony and solution project, is a long-term project in which design-appropriate systems are developed together with architects, from an international acoustic expert to engineering groups.
