ART IN HISTORY: CERMODERN

     ART IN HISTORY: CERMODERN

This week, as T-COD Architecture, we would like to talk about CerModern, which keeps art alive in history. Let's take a look at the architecture of CerModern, which is an ever-renewing, versatile and versatile Modern Arts Center.

The building, which allows people to make room for art in their daily lives, hosts artistic diversity in an area of 11,500 square meters. In the first years of the Republic, the railways were nationalized and ''Cer Workshops'' were built in Ankara during this period. These workshops were used until 1995 by making modifications from time to time without departing from their design and function in principle. In 2010, its renovatiion was completed by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism with the design of Uygur Architecture and it was opened to use as Ankara's first Modern Arts Center. In the survey and restitution studies, the building, which was formed from ''three equal rectangular'' units, was surrounded by curvilinear and spiral, transparent walls both to support this idea and to ensure integrity with the preserved and newly built structure, considering that the reason for its existence was ''train and railway''. Two of the three-unit traction workshops and train maintenance hangars have been partially demolished to pass the railroad track. The contrast and unity of the old and the new are designed to form a harmonious whole in which the cross-section of the period in which they were made can be perceived. Cer Ateliers bears traces of the façade understanding of the period in which they were built. The building contains some elements of the transition from Ottoman architecture to contemporary architecture. The traditional construction technique of the builgind, which is protected by the contemporary construction technique and the structural elements used, is visually displayed, ensuring harmony in contrast and not contradicting the scale of the original building. The structures built in both periods show qualities worth preserving due to their qualities and functions.

Regardless of its architectural value, CerModern, Which has an important ''memory'' value in terms of our history and started its operations as a Modern Arts Center on April 1, 2010, has exhibition galleries, photo gallery, museum shop, conference and multipurpose hall, artist substitutes, cafe and It hosts artistic diversity with its sculpture park area.
