COLOR PSYCHOLOGY IN INTERIOR DESIGN

COLOR PSYCHOLOGY IN INTERIOR DESIGN

Colors... appear in many details, from painting a wall to choosing the upholstery of a sofa. But did you know that it's not just about aesthetics? Colors affect our emotions, direct our energy and shape the bond we establish with space.

As T-COD Architecture, we care about the psychological effects of colors in our projects as much as the choice of materials. Let's take a look at the psychological effects of the most frequently used colors in interiors.

1. WHITE: SPACIOUSNESS AND SIMPLICITY

White gives a feeling of cleanliness, purity and spaciousness. It is generally preferred to make small spaces appear larger. White, which we often see in modern and minimal designs, also stands out with its mind-resting effect. However, when used too much, it can create a sterile and cold atmosphere, so it is important to balance it with warm tones.

2. BLUE: THE COLOR OF PEACE

Blue has a relaxing effect. While it increases focus, especially in work areas, it supports relaxation in bedrooms. Cool-toned blues give a feeling of coolness, while warmer-toned blues add intimacy. In T-COD projects, blue is generally the color we prefer in areas that require focus.

3. GREEN: NATURALNESS AND BALANCE

Green evokes nature and is relaxing. It does not tire the eyes and gives a feeling of balance and peace. This color, which is preferred in offices, living areas or healthcare institutions, also adds a completely different energy to the space when supported by live plants.

4. YELLOW: ENERGY AND JOY

Yellow evokes the sun and creates a feeling of happiness. However, it may cause discomfort when used excessively. It is ideal for adding brightness and energy to kitchens, corridors or low-light areas.

5. RED: PASSION AND VITALITY

Red is a strong color. It attracts attention, increases energy and adds dynamism to the space. However, it can increase stress levels with long-term exposure. That's why it's often used as an accent color; for example, a sofa, a painting or a decorative object...

6. GRAY: ELEGANCE AND SERENITY

Gray, an indispensable part of modern spaces, is suitable for both classical and contemporary designs with its neutral structure. However, excessive use can make the space cold and distant. Balance can be achieved by supporting wooden textures, warm colors or soft fabrics.

7. BLACK: STRENGTH AND DEPTH

Black is the representative of elegance and power. When used in small amounts, it adds depth and contrast to the space.

As T-COD Architecture, we generally like to use black in details – such as thin frames, lighting elements or furniture legs. Color selection in interior design is not just a visual decision; It is a powerful tool that directly affects the atmosphere of living spaces. When you use colors correctly, you can create spaces that not only look beautiful but are also enjoyable to be in. If you want to create spacious and functional spaces in your living space with colors that suit your mood, contact us. Let's design spaces that speak with the language of colors.
