ASELSAN MONITORING CENTER: ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION
Today, T-COD Architecture would like to tell you about one of our projects abroad, in addition to our domestic architectural, interior design, and smart room projects: the Aselsan Monitoring Center in Baku, Azerbaijan. Let's take a look at the design details of the Aselsan Monitoring Center, whose design and implementation processes we completed in a short time. As T-COD Architecture, we have realized many "monitoring center" projects. The 120-square-meter space was transformed into an aesthetic and functional area housing a meeting area, system room, and monitoring center.
-CEILING DESIGN
First, to transform the space into a more functional area, the existing glass areas on two sides were removed and replaced with a wall. In a space lacking windows to allow natural light, baffle ceilings, concealed lighting in suspended ceilings, and linear ceiling systems were used. While the lighting needs of the space were met to the maximum extent, many components such as ceiling installations, lighting fixtures, and fire detectors were mounted concealed. The areas containing the work desks and meeting table were defined by a suspended ceiling design. 60x60 LED panel lighting was used in the system room behind the screens. In short, by correctly designing and implementing the ceilings, one of the most important elements of the design, according to their intended use, we met all the aesthetic and functional needs of the space.
-FLOORING AND WALLPAPER
We used carpet tile flooring, which we prefer especially in commercial or corporate areas due to its durability and sustainability, in the Aselsan Monitoring Center. With carpet tile flooring, an aesthetic and functional flooring product, we created a comfortable floor design. We controlled the acoustics of the space by isolating the sound with 50x50 cm carpet tiles. Thanks to the 50x50 cm carpet tiles we applied to the floor, we also provided access for the cable infrastructure running under the flooring. Our carpet tile application, due to both its dimensions and modular nature, allows for intervention only in the desired area in case of wear or any other reason requiring replacement. For the walls, we used two types of wallpaper to define the overall atmosphere of the space. Light-colored wallpaper was used on the walls, while dark-colored wallpaper was applied to the columns to highlight them. Especially in areas such as smart rooms, meeting rooms, and monitoring centers, the acoustics of the space are one of the most important elements of the design. Therefore, we also controlled the acoustics of the space by using textile-based wallpaper on the walls. Textile-based wallpapers offer a long lifespan due to their resistance to scratches and wear.
-FURNITURE
At the Aselsan Monitoring Center, we implemented furniture designed to provide comfortable working conditions for 24/7 operational personnel. We combined technology and architecture with smart desks that maintain a high level of electronic networking and equipment. Each desk has the potential to accommodate four personnel and provides easy access to cables. We positioned the monitors and viewing screens at a lower level than the desk surface so as not to obstruct them. We also designed the Aselsan Monitoring Center door, like the rest of the facility, using smart systems. We implemented an electronic and secure smart door system for entry via card reader.
